Value of Money

Image
Writing this after I just finished my lunch at Subway, alone. I’ve come to enjoy eating alone since I started working here, it gives me peace of mind. Why am I writing this, you might ask? It’s just a sudden realisation of how both society and I have changed when it comes to spending money. Today, I had a Sub of the Day for RM9.95. There was a time when RM10 could cover an entire week’s worth of lunch during my primary school days. Yesterday, I also had dinner with friends and the bill came to RM86.42 per pax. We no longer look at the prices on the menu, we just order whatever we feel like having. It cost a little more than usual because we were celebrating a birthday too. It just feels like I’ve grown up so much. From the kid who could make RM10 last an entire week, to now spending close to RM90 on a single meal. That RM90 could have lasted the younger me 9 weeks of lunches, that’s 45 lunches in total! Can you imagine how much writing on Blogspot has changed too? Back then, I would si...

29 Years Old - Marriageable Age?

Image
29 years old: the year I attended 3 weddings of friends my age. It’s an unexplainable feeling when you realise that the people who used to be at the same stage of life as you 10 years ago are now heading into different stages of life.

Bukit Batu Putih @ Gopeng, Perak

Image
18 Oct 2025 Evening activity - sunset hike at Bukit Batu Putih @ Gopeng, Perak. It was just a short and easy 20 minutes hike but it gave us such a rewarding view! (Up and down just took us 35 minutes)  However, there is an uncle who is staying opposite of the trailhead entrance collecting entrance fee from the hikers.  It costed us RM5 per pax. Nevertheless, the view was totally worth it!

2nd - 7th September 2025 Another year, another unexpected work trip and this year I’m going to Tokyo, Japan! Really excited for this opportunity and glad that it is happening as it has been postponed for a few months. Not sharing about my work, but bits of here and there below! The hotel room is small but it has everything I need and there is onsen for hotel guests too! Best friend aka trains for the 6 days! Onsen for hotel guests - I always visit it during the midnight haha Soka, Saitama. Mirror selfie. Wagyu @ Roast Beef. Harajuku - crowded trendy spot. Monjayaki! Something new I tried in Tokyo, yumz!

Dazz Cam

Image
15 Mar 2025 Dazz Cam application is my best friend when I was travelling in Yunnan, China. I got so many instagrammable (at least for me) photos by using it. Its filter is just 100%! Sharing a few photos below: Cherry Blossoms in Kunming Zoo.  Some parts of the zoo were covered in a canopy of pink blooms but the crowd was crazy! It was tough to take photos without strangers appearing in your photos. Pink daisies at Green Lake Park, also known as Cui Hu Park.

Gifts from Childhood

Image
13th Oct 2024 With a heavy heart, I had to throw some of my precious gifts I received from my friends when I was still in primary and secondary schools. :( I have kept these gifts for more than 10, 15 years, some could be 20 years too. Since I can’t keep them anymore due to moving house, I took snapshots of them and post some online for remembrance. Sharing some below: 2 extra long pens from JieLynn, if I remember correctly, they were from India. Photo frame by Wing Lam back in 2010, when we were in 1 Jaya (form 1). Look at the eyes already turned yellowish 🤣 This metal pencil case was from my primary school form teacher, 谭老师 when I got top 10 in school ranking. It was either from 2008 or 2009. I used it to keep a lot of cute, mini erasers that I collected since 2004. Typical Chinese school students with multiplication formula that we memorise since standard 1 and since then engraved in our brain. Snowball decoration from Charmaine back in 2009. I can still vividly remember it was fro...

RIP, dear popo.

Image
26th Sep 2024 Things just went downhill so quickly. Popo was diagnosed at the end of June and she left us 3 months later. She passed away peacefully at 5:30am on the 26th September 2024 (Thursday) in the hospital. It was a painful news to us but we believe popo is now at a better place with no pain. Her favourite granddaughters.  Popo, did you hear the eulogy I gave for both days? Mum’s friends said I made them cry, do you think the same too? We have so much beautiful memories together. We love you, popo. (miss you a lot too) We are grateful to have had you in our life and glad that we get to spend our time almost everyday at the last stage of your life.  We love you, forever. Rest in peace, our strongest popo.
