Value of Money
Writing this after I just finished my lunch at Subway, alone. I’ve come to enjoy eating alone since I started working here, it gives me peace of mind. Why am I writing this, you might ask? It’s just a sudden realisation of how both society and I have changed when it comes to spending money. Today, I had a Sub of the Day for RM9.95. There was a time when RM10 could cover an entire week’s worth of lunch during my primary school days. Yesterday, I also had dinner with friends and the bill came to RM86.42 per pax. We no longer look at the prices on the menu, we just order whatever we feel like having. It cost a little more than usual because we were celebrating a birthday too. It just feels like I’ve grown up so much. From the kid who could make RM10 last an entire week, to now spending close to RM90 on a single meal.
