ACIC 2017
31/3/2017 - 2/4/2017
It is the annual ACIC event! (Asia Cheerleading Invitational Championships 2017) Never did I know I am able to stand on this blue mat competing with international countries.
This is all started when Chee Hao ask me if I wanted to join this competition. I was screaming inside my heart, I did not expect I have this opportunity to join this event. (side note: my cheerleading skills are very limited) After asking opinions from my parents and bf, I decided to join! Oh, and also with another two teammates named Randy and Yichuan. We are participating in Group Stunt Divisions: Group Stunt Open Coed Advanced.
We had only one month prior to practice including choreographing our routine. It was really ganjiong as all of us are kinda newbie. (not really that newbie tbh, but we are just practising under college so it is hard for us to learn new skills. Kinda pathetic huh?) Hence, one week before our new semester starts, we went back to college for practice. We tried to learn new skills by our own WITHOUT SPOTTER *real dangerous*. Damn, bruises everywhere hahaha Despite all those injuries, we still continue. That is the best part, no one complains about it.
In one month time, we grew stronger and better. Even though we only manage to choreographed our full routine on the last week and also hardly hitting our full routine, but at least in the end we managed to finish it.
31st of March 2017, we departed to Singapore by Ms Anne's car. It took us about 8 hours to reach Singapore. (along the way, we stopped by a few places including dropping Ms Anne's children in Johor and had our dinner there). Once we reach Singapore, we straight away headed to Harbour Ville Hotel located at Kampong Bahru Rd and checked in. And let us call it a day. (a lil review for the hotel, the room and bathroom were small, hotel front desk is helpful, about 20 footsteps to the bus stop)
1st of April 2017, we woke up in the morning and went to have breakfast at Vivo City's food court a.k.a Food Republic. (Ms Anne did not join us as she was sick and it seems severe so we bought some light food and Panadol for her) I had a bowl of mee for SGD6.5 (RM20.6) and the best part is Yichuan's mixed rice, he paid SGD12 (RM38.03) for that! LIKE I CAN EAT A SIMPLE BUFFET MEAL OHWELL we were all shocked by the price hahaha After that, we went to the competition place to have a look, it is at D’Marquee, Downtown East. 26.5km from our hotel to D’Marquee and it costed SGD20 (RM63.38) for the Grabcar. *extra note: SGD1 = RM3.169 at this time*
When we reached the place, I was so excited as I got to see people who I only saw from Instagram (ex: Jasmine and her fiance who were ex-NOVA members). This place was so cold, regretted not bringing my jacket along. We watched a few categories competition and left the place. Back to the hotel, prepare ourselves and off for dinner. Before we take our dinner, we dropped by at Vivo City. We initially wanted to have our last practice at the rooftop but it was quite awkward when people passed by. So we ended up acting like a tourist taking photos and had a walk.
After that, we went to Chinatown for our dinner. Once we got down from the MRT, we went to have ice cream wafer. It was only sold at SGD1.2 (RM3.72) by an uncle *last time SGD1 though hahaha*. Then, we wandered around Chinatown to have a look. It was really tempting to try their spicy hotpot (麻辣火锅)! However, I only ordered sour spicy mee as I scare I might have stomach discomfort on the next day (I mean this kind of thing don't play play ah, how to compete when you are not feeling well?!).
It was finally THE DAY. We woke up early to D’Marquee, Downtown East. Once we reached D’Marquee, I went to do my makeup and changed my costume (and the males were really impatient, kept calling for my name when I was doing make up. Like hello? This is my first time doing such make up eh, give me some time la) Thanks Cecy for setting my hair too! Then, we had Mc Donald for our breakfast and also enjoy watching the competition at the same time.
DENG DENG DENG! Time for our division to warm up! We first had our group photo on the outdoor stage first, then had our warm up. BUTTERFLIES IN MY STOMACH! After an hour, it was finally our turn to compete. "3, 2, 1! PUZZLE!" We entered the blue mat, putting on our big smile and Yichuan raised his hand indicating we are ready. Song played, routine start! Song stopped, routine ended! It was really enjoyable, showing our routine to the crowd and to the tiny judges (there are so many of them on the stage and so far away from us). Sad point is we did not hit full routine, the last part was kinda ruined. Hmm.... but there is always next time right? :)
Time for our division's prize giving ceremony, we knew we were totally not on the top 3 list, we just aimed for not being the last. However, it was really disappointing as we only manged to get Merit Award. We did not know certain stunts were so high marks and we did not do it, but yeah, we learnt from here and we will do correction from here.
We stayed there for another few hours to watch other divisions and time to bid goodbye! Hi, Malaysia, we are back for more practices! Ms Anne dropped us at Larkin bus station and before heading back to KL, we had our dinner at KFC. Our bus departed at 9pm which is supposed to depart at 830pm and it stopped at random places. Like mygod, how long it will take to be back?! It was a longgggg journey (BUT I ENJOYED MY JOURNEY BACK, HAVING TALKS WITH THEM AND LISTENED TO OUR OPINIONS TOWARDS EACH OTHER), we reached TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) at 2.30am. Grabcar again and home sweet home.
I really thank them for giving me this opportunity, I get to enhance my skills, learning new stunts and let me try things I used to afraid of. NOT TO FORGET, they took good care of me throughout the "trip" as I am the only girl (Ms Anne did not join us much as she was sick), making me feel like a tourist when I mumbled that I wanted to be like one. I also thank those who helped us along the way.
You guys made me improved. APPRECIATE.

Ice cream wafer and it is MINT FLAVOUR! YUM!
Chinatown was very crowded.
Then, we continued our journey to Potong Pasir to look for Danny Ziqi them. Once we reached their hostel, they were not back yet, instead we met Veni so we chit-chatted with her and also had a quick tour at their hostel. Later on, we went out again to hunt for food (not for us but for Danny and his gang). Along the way, we SPOTTED A HUGE FIELD and yes, we are going to have our LAST PRACTICE there! So we told them we were unable to join them and went for our practice. OMG, it felt so darn good when we manage to hit FULL ROUTINE at ease! We were beyond excited and grateful for it. But.. you know, first round hit, second round not so nice la.... Nonetheless, we were still satisfied and we called Grabcar back to our hotel.
Make up of the day.
