Say Goodbye to Glasses 🤓
10th November 2023
It's D-Day, for my TransPRK surgery. TransPRK stands for Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy (TransPRK), it is a touch-free laser eye correction for refractive errors such as short-sightedness.
I started wearing spectacles when I was 10 years old, and only when I needed to see the whiteboard in class. Then, I started to wear them on daily basis when I turned 13. For a person who loves doing sports and all sort of activities like cheerleading, swimming, white water rafting, adventure parks and etc., it was really troublesome. I had to wear contact lens or just be blind. My short-sightedness power is 350 (L) and 550 (R), lazy eyes they said.
The thought of doing eye correction surgery is always back in my mind for many years. However, nothing motivates me to pursue further.
Only until recently, I met a lot of new friends or colleagues who have done this surgery and all they told me was this is one of their best decisions ever. I'm tempted.
September 2023, I made an impromptu trip to Singapore and met up with my friends. To my surprise, JX did the eye surgery too, out of everyone, he is someone that I would never expect to do this surgery. Knowing this made me decided to go for an eye checkup and the rest is... history...
28th October - eye check-up
9th November - final eye check-up
10th November - TransPRK surgery
11th November - LIFE WITHOUT SPECS
I ACTUALLY DID MY EYE CORRECTION SURGERY???? OH HELL YEAH, SPEC-LESS LIFE HERE WE GOOOOOO.
My recovery period was quite tough, eyes were swollen and opening my eyes was quite an ordeal for the first few days. It took me a week back to driving, but my eyesight will still fluctuate occasionally. Doctor said it take 1-6 months for the eyes to fully stabilize, depending on each individual. For now, I just need to ensure my eyes are always lubricated and not overworked.
Hmm, RM5,688 is a pretty good investment here. 🤪
