A Better Place

Couldn't visit ahgong;

Couldn't attend his funeral;

Couldn't say goodbye.

That is how bad it is.

12th July 2021

Unfortunately, ahgong who was fully vaccinated got infected with COVID-19. He only had mild symptoms, coughing and wobbly legs. My relatives decided to call the ambulance as ahgong was feeling weak and it is better to have health professional's care.

13th July 2021

Called the hospital to check if is any update, we were informed that he is still in the emergency ward and yet to be warded.

P/s: Hospital won't be calling the family member during this high COVID-19 infection rates period, they are too busy saving and taking care thousands of lives. So, the only time they call is either the patient can be discharged or they are in a critical condition...

14th July 2021

4.30pm: Hospital called saying ahgong's heart stopped beating for almost 30 seconds and they did cardioversion to save him. It saved him, but chances of survival is 50-50. They told us to prepare ourselves. The doctors also did intubation to ahgong after the cardioversion. However, we did not have the chance to have a video call beforehand as ahgong's situation was too critical and the hospital had to do everything they could to save him ASAP.

5.15pm: Hospital called again and told us... ahgong passed away at 5.13pm. He lost to the battle due to his old age... This is the first time I ever lost someone who is close to me. It hurts even more when dad said he didn't get to talk to ahgong before he left us.

Words from my sis.

We don't get to video call, we don't get to hear his last word, we don't get to see him, we don't get to send him and we don't get to attend his funeral. Everything happened so quickly, so unexpectedly. The thought of not having the chance to say goodbye in person, or to be there with him affected me emotionally...

We stayed in different states. We used to meet almost every month or at least two months once. However, the last face-to-face meeting we had was in January, it was way months back...  (Malaysia was still imposing the interstate travel ban, hence no visiting)

COVID-19 just took away our precious loved one and giving everyone unbearable pain. Till now, I am still in disbelief that one of the COVID-19 death cases data belongs to our loved one.

You'll be missed forever and always, RIP ahgong ❤️

21st July 2021 (something additional)

I never expected this but I am lucky to have these guys who care for me. They made sure I'm fine at this point of time and sent treats for my family and I. Appreciate it. 🙆🏻‍♀️

Stay safe, people.
